Hello 2013

Happy New Year!

We kept New Years Eve pretty relaxed, just out to dinner at a local supper club with some friends and then back home and in our jammies to welcome 2013.  Below is what I wore (before I changed into my awesome snowman jammies).  As a side note.....I am so excited that I found long-length pajamas on kohls.com (pants are 33 inch inseam).  I finally have pajama pants that aren't above my ankles, hooray!

Dress is a gift from my mom, she got it at a boutique in Flint, MI.

2012 was very good to me.  The kids started preschool.  We all remained relatively healthy.  We took some great vacations.  Looking back, there weren't really too many negatives.  I feel so happy and fulfilled with my life.

I don't usually make formal resolutions, but towards the end of the year (um, since October) I have been in a totally unhealthy kick, and I am definitely starting to see and feel the results of it.  So this year I have decided to break those habits and start some new better ones.  My goals for 2013 are:

  1. Better posture.  I constantly notice myself slumping and hunching over, I definitely need to correct this.
  2. Eat better.  Start tracking my points and once I get to my goal, maintain a healthy calorie level. Yup, back on the WW plan.
  3. Work out a minimum of 3 times per week.  Not only will this help the way I look, but I will feel more confident and have more strength and energy.  I think 3x a week is a totally attainable goal.
  4. Buy less "target" clothing.  You know, the throw a shirt or a dress in the cart just to get it.  I need to start wearing the clothing I own more often and saving up money to buy nicer items that I really want.
  5. Keep track of my spending.  This ties in with #4.  I already do a pretty good job of living within our means and keeping my spending in check.  I want to continue to do this and make sure we stay under our goals.
What is everyone else's goals for the year?

  1. Ooh, thanks for the tip on tall PJ pants! Victoria's Secret added a long length too, but all their pajamas are pretty much sold out right now. How tall are you anyway? I'm 5'9 - do we have similar pant length issues?

And even if you feel like you've been unhealthy, wow, you look great in this dress! Nice pick by your mom!

I'm still working on my goals for the year, though I usually have most of yours in mind year after year (except for posture - that's one thing I've never had a problem with).

    1. Anne, I am seriously so psyched about these pajamas. I keep telling everyone. Years of pants hitting just above your ankle bone will do that I guess. I will have to check out VS too, thanks for the tip. I am just under 5'9, so I think our pant issues are very similar. As far as the eating and lazing around goes, I have put on a couple lbs....nothing too bad, but it is more of that sluggish gross feeling?...if that makes sense? I want to get back to my regular healthier routine. A break from it all is great every now and then, but over 3 months is a little much. :)

    2. Oh yeah, I totally get that. Our original plan yesterday was to order from the nearby, awesome Mexican restaurant.. Bob and I are both on their email list as valued customers (good god, what does that say?) so we were offered a special holiday discount. But I just couldn't do it. I start missing healthy food after a while.

And to be totally honest, I'm really only 5' 8 3/4" tall.

    3. Hello from Austria! and Happy New Year!
B told me about your blog - and I LOVE it! Great to hear/read you had such a great 2012. Ours was also pretty eventful as you kno ;-) The little one is half a year old now and keeping me and us quite busy, as you can imagine. As for the 2013 goals, mine are pretty much the same as yours. I am back on the WW plan too, to get rid of the baby fat. And already feeling much better. Need to buy less "cheap" clothes and more of the nicer, better quality stuff, especially dresses (by the way, the dress you wore for New Years Eve looks beautiful), I already ordered some (online, don't do the shopping thing, as you know), can't wait to get them. I also wanted to change my looks, went to the hairdresser last week - and have short hair now, short-short, and loving it. So, one of my three main goals I have achieved already. Let's see how I do on the other two ;-)

    4. Hi Klaudia! I am happy B shared with you! Your. Es hair sounds sassy, you should send a picture. B said he had a great time visiting with you all and that your son is adorable. Good luck with WW. I have yet to officially start. I have been sick, and had visitors, and lots of Christmas candy to finish off. Always an excuse. Sunday is my official day to start. :)

  2. I love your #4. I need to work on this, too. Impulsivity has always been my thing. Today I actually went out of my way to not even go past the clothing department, so at least that's a step in the right direction. Have you been to the Nieman Marcus outlet type place at Gurnee? I just saw it on my way north this week. Any good? Once I've beat the hundreds of holiday pounds that I put on, I need to do some quality shopping.
